Visual Library

As a visual-learner with ADD, I thought this may be helpful to understand some of the concepts, tools, jargon, and other fun you will find along this path towards mental wellness.

Unique Details

Unique Details

This was made at a company-hosted 4 week (1 day per week for 4 weeks) teambuilding workshop. Each week, we focused on creating a different part of the journals. Throughout the process, the team members learned a bit about each other's personal values and goals. Each week, they were given a list of items to consider and/or bring for the next class. At the end, they each walked away with something full of unique details for & about their lives, as well as a stronger bond as a team.

Completed Journal from Pop-Up Class

Completed Journal from Pop-Up Class

This is from a one-day, pop-up class I held. Each attendee received basic neutral pages and selected a themed kit that included fun papers, stickers, notecards, sayings, prompts, etc. I knew a few of the attendees well and curated a few kits. This particular one is from the owner of the tea shop that hosted the class.

A Word as a Prompt

A Word as a Prompt

Among the items set aside for this particular book, I created a prompts for myself. This particular one has the word "Discernment" surrounded by words that support it. This allows me to revisit the page at different dates to reflect on what it means to me in the moment or to remind myself that is something I am striving to do better with.

Odds & Ends in Kits

Odds & Ends in Kits

Some of the odds & ends you'll find in my kits include items such as: - empowering notecards - puzzle pieces - ribbons, strings, etc. - journal prompts - flowers, tags, stickers - paper, playing cards, cutouts from old or broken books - sometimes, I add tea & candy

"Billie, a Notebook"

"Billie, a Notebook"

A notebook I loved creating! The picture of Billie Holiday is actually a stamped image. When I found the beautiful stamp, I had to get it! It was a joy playing with ribbon, metal, stamps, old paper to create this gem.

Journal Cover with a Vintage Vibe

Journal Cover with a Vintage Vibe

Sometimes, I have fun creating the covers before the books. This is such a case. I chose the key in the upper left corner and built on it from there. The process sometimes includes heating up the page to soften the glue for repositioning before it is settled. Sometimes, it ends up as I envisioned it. In this case, I rearranged everything a billion & fifty-eight times before gluing it all down.

Inside "Message in a Bottle"

Inside "Message in a Bottle"

"Message in a Bottle" has been fun to create and not a theme I am typically drawn to. The paper from Stampin' Up! was perfect for this! I used many fun things to embellish this book. Drink coasters, old game pieces, maps, and some sea-worthy journal prompts.

"Thank You Pocket" with Journal Cards & Book Mark

"Thank You Pocket" with Journal Cards & Book Mark

As a thank you to one of my group leaders, I created a "Thank You Pocket" and loaded it with goodies. This was a purse or book bag sized pocket. I created a couple of bookmarks for her that doubled as journal cards with prompts. Of course, it needed to include some tea and chocolate for having dealt with the likes of our group.

Tiny Book from Box

Tiny Book from Box

One of my favorite things to do is look at a paper or cardboard item about to be thrown away to see if I can give it new life. Many times, the answer is ABSOLUTELY! In this case, our Bible study leader had a little box full of stickers she was going to toss. I asked if I could have it, turned it into a tiny book, and gifted it back to her.
